Wires and bars of stainless steel of various types are used as filler materials in electrode, MIG, TIG, and submerged arc welding: according to requirements, austenitic, martensitic, ferritic or austenitic-ferritic, also called duplex steels are used for welding. The use of selected wire rods with controlled impurities guarantees optimal welding from both the mechanical strength and resistance to corrosion points of view. Furthermore, the chemical composition of the proposed welding steels is defined in such a way as to be compatible with all of the international standards, including the European and American ones. Thanks to the quality of its welding steels, Rodacciai has supplied all of the major producers of electrodes in Europe, the United States, and throughout the world over the years, passing even the most demanding tests: the product certifications issued by TÜV (Germany), Controlas (Holland), ABS (U.S.A.) and CWB (Canada) bear witness to this fact, without counting the approval by the major international car manufacturers.

18 8 Mn
A fully austenitic stainless welding wire suitable for joining dissimilar steels such as manganese steels, non-alloyed low-carbon steels, or low-alloy low-carbon steels. It is also appropriate for welding high-manganese steels containing approximately 14% Mn, armor steels, and other materials that are generally difficult to weld. The wire is frequently used as a buffer layer prior to hard-facing applications performed by weld overlay. Its high manganese content ensures that the weld metal remains fully austenitic, providing excellent resistance to hot cracking and ensuring high ductility.

19 9 L Si
An austenitic stainless welding wire suitable for joining similar metals such as AISI 304 and AISI 304L. Its low carbon content reduces the likelihood of chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, thereby improving corrosion resistance. Apart from its higher silicon (Si) content, it is comparable in quality to 308L.
The increased Si content enhances arc stability and provides better fluidity and penetration in the weld pool, contributing to a smoother and more aesthetically uniform weld bead. However, if a low-ferrite or fully austenitic structure forms due to dilution from the base metal during welding, the weld metal may exhibit slightly higher susceptibility to cracking compared to lower-silicon grades.

19 9 H
An austenitic stainless welding wire suitable for welding 18% Cr – 8% Ni stainless steels. This alloy offers good corrosion resistance, and its higher carbon content increases creep strength, i.e., resistance to deformation at elevated temperatures. These characteristics allow the product to be used safely in high-temperature applications.

23 12 L
An austenitic stainless welding wire used for joining two dissimilar steels, one stainless and the other carbon steel; specifically for welding AISI 304 grade stainless steel to carbon steel or to similar forged or cast carbon steels. It can also be used for welding AISI 304 and other alloys of similar composition operating in highly corrosive environments.
Its low carbon content reduces the likelihood of chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, thereby enhancing corrosion resistance. Additionally, it provides excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures.

It is used for welding heat-resistant steels that are rolled, forged, or cast, as well as heat-resistant steels containing chromium–silicon–aluminum (CrSiAl). Typical applications include welding operations in heat-treatment plant manufacturing, steam boiler fabrication, refineries, the petroleum industry, the ceramics industry, and many other sectors. The weld metal is austenitic with approximately 8% ferrite. It is preferably used in environments where oxidizing gases are severe. It provides resistance to scale formation up to 1000°C.

23 12 L Si
An austenitic stainless welding wire used for joining two dissimilar steels—one stainless and one carbon steel; specifically for welding AISI 304 grade material to carbon steel or to similar forged or cast carbon steels. It can also be used for welding AISI 304 and other alloys of similar composition operating in highly corrosive environments. Its low carbon content reduces the likelihood of chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, thereby improving corrosion resistance.
Apart from its higher silicon (Si) content, it is similar in grade to 309L. The increased Si content enhances arc stability and provides better fluidity and penetration in the weld pool, contributing to a smoother and more aesthetically uniform weld bead. However, due to dilution from the base metal during welding, if a low-ferrite or fully austenitic structure forms, the weld metal may exhibit higher susceptibility to hot cracking compared to the 309L grade.

It is similar to the 309L grade, with the additional presence of approximately 2.50–3.00% molybdenum (Mo). This Mo addition is used to improve pitting corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-containing environments. It is also preferred for creating a buffer layer beneath 316L during weld overlay applications, as well as for welding dissimilar materials such as carbon steels, manganese steels, and low-alloy steels.

It is a corrosion-resistant stainless welding wire used for welding heat-resistant stainless steels containing approximately 25% Cr and 20% Ni. Thanks to its high chromium (Cr) content, it provides very good corrosion resistance, particularly at elevated temperatures. This grade is fully austenitic and therefore sensitive to hot cracking. Although its corrosion-resistance temperature limit is high, it should not be used at temperatures exceeding 1000°C under any circumstances. Typical applications include industrial furnaces, annealing chambers, plants handling molten salt processes, boiler components, and heat exchangers.

29 9
A stainless welding wire suitable for joining dissimilar metals, such as welding carbon steel to stainless steel—particularly in applications involving steels with a high nickel (Ni) content. Welding with 312 wire produces a weld metal that contains a high proportion of ferrite within an overall austenitic matrix. Thanks to the presence of strong austenite-forming elements that provide significant dilution, such as nickel (Ni), the microstructure remains dual-phase, which ensures high resistance to hot cracking. It is not recommended for use in applications operating above 300°C, nor for welding components that require post-weld heat treatment.

An austenitic stainless welding wire suitable for welding similar materials such as AISI 316 and AISI 316L. Its low carbon (C) content reduces the likelihood of chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, thereby increasing corrosion resistance. It is also suitable for welding stainless steels that contain carbide-stabilizing elements such as titanium (Ti) and niobium (Nb), which inhibit chromium carbide formation. Compared to the 308L grade, it provides superior corrosion resistance.

19 12 3 L Si
An austenitic stainless welding wire suitable for welding similar materials such as AISI 316 and AISI 316L. Its low carbon content reduces the likelihood of chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, thereby increasing corrosion resistance. Except for its high silicon (Si) content, it is comparable in quality to 316L. The elevated Si content improves arc stability, enhances fluidity and penetration in the weld pool, and contributes to a smoother and more uniform weld appearance. If dilution from the base metal during welding leads to the formation of a low-ferrite or fully austenitic weld metal, the susceptibility to hot cracking becomes slightly higher compared to weld metals with lower silicon content. It provides superior corrosion resistance compared with the 308L Si grade.
