OkeyCarbon-only steels, temperable
The various types of non-alloyed steels, i.e. without the addition of alloy elements, differ from one another in particular due to the greater or lesser presence of carbon - the higher the carbon content, the greater the hardness of the steel in question after the quenching and tempering treatment.
Non-alloyed quenched and tempered steels in any case have a limited temperability and do not allow, even when tempered in water, well-transformed structures to be obtained on pieces with elevated thickness
Rodacciai Mark
KV20 R20Pb
Kalite
C22E - Nr.1.1151
Non-alloy steel with very low temperability, temperable only in water and used for simple and small pieces. Often used without the quenching and tempering treatment.
Rodacciai Mark
KV30 R30S
Kalite
C30E - Nr.1.1178 C30R - Nr.1.1179
Non-alloy steel quenchable and temperable in water with higher carbon contents than KV20. Used for simple pieces of limited size.
Rodacciai Mark
KV35 R35Pb
Kalite
C35E - Nr.1.1181 C35R - Nr.1.1180
Non-alloy steel quenchable and temperable in water, higher carbon content than the previous types. Widely used thanks to its slightly higher temperability.
Rodacciai Mark
KV40 R40S R40Pb
Kalite
C40E - Nr.1.1186 C40R - Nr.1.1189
Non-alloy steel quenchable and temperable in water and oil, allows higher mechanical characteristics to be obtained. It is one of the most used steels in Europe.
Rodacciai Mark
KV45 R45S R45PB
Kalite
C45E - Nr.1.1191 C45R - Nr.1.1201
Non-alloy steel, quenchable and temperable in water and oil. Pieces of a particular size with sufficiently transformed structures can be extracted. It is one of the most used steels in Europe.
Rodacciai Mark
KV50 R50Pb
Kalite
C50E - Nr.1.1206
Non-alloy steel quenchable and temperable in oil, with high carbon levels, allows pieces with rather high hardness to be obtained. Also suitable for surface tempering.
Rodacciai Mark
R55
Kalite
C55E - Nr.1.1203
The high carbon levels of this non-alloy quenched and tempered steel allow high hardness and transformed structures to be obtained even in pieces of considerable size. Often used for surface tempering.
Rodacciai Mark
RE60S
Kalite
(E335+S) - Nr.(1.0060) (E335GC) - Nr.(1.0543)
Carbon steel derived from the E335 type of the standard EN 10025-2; the addition of sulfur confers greater machinability by chip removal. Not suitable for hardening heat treatments.
